Danielle Steel is the most prolific writer alive today. She has published more than 170 books— more than 3 books per year on average — during her 50-year career. This productivity has made her very wealthy. Forbes estimates her net worth to be $420M USD in 2023.

Like any prodigious person, Danielle Steel has a daily routine for writing, and things she does to make sure that each new book she writes becomes a bestseller.

She writes…. a lot

Pretty obvious, right? But what’s unique about Danielle is her ferocious dedication and stamina. Danielle Steel sometimes writes for 20 or more hours at a time. She says this especially occurs in the first month of writing a new book, when she is gripped by laying out the story.

Danielle says she developed a habit of writing late into the night when her children were young, and that was the only time she had to write.

She raised 9 children and was a devoted and present mother. She didn’t let child-rearing (and a rather dramatic personal life) stop her from writing during those years.
